RussianLegal holds first negotiation session on corporate disputes at the XIV St. Petersburg International Legal Forum

On June 26, within the framework of the XIV St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, an interactive session titled "Negotiations in Conflict Situations: Secret Techniques for Resolving Corporate Disputes" took place. Leading experts in corporate law and criminal law risks analyzed dispute resolution techniques and strategies for bringing parties back to the negotiating table through a real-life case study. The session was moderated by Andrey Kozlov, Managing Partner of the Law Office RussianLegal.

In contrast to traditional panel discussions, the session format involved the analysis of a case study that encompassed frequently encountered situations during corporate conflicts. Using the example of a dispute between Kamenev and Gurov, two co-owners with fundamentally different values and goals, the speakers analyzed the psychology of the parties in real time and proposed negotiation strategies and methods for resolving the conflict.

The session speakers included:

  • Svetlana Guz, Attorney, Mediator, Managing Partner of the Legal To Business Law Bureau;
  • Maxim Karpov, Co-Founder, Managing Partner of ClubFirst; Head of the Expert Group "Mediation Culture" at the Agency for Strategic Initiatives;
  • Natalya Kolerova, Attorney, Partner of the Corporate Practice at the Law Office "S&K Vertical";
  • Olesya Petrol, Founding Partner of the law firm Petrol;
  • Vera Richtermann, Partner at EPAM Law Firm;
  • Denis Saushkin, Attorney, Partner at BGP Litigation;
  • Oleg Sheikin, Partner at the Law Office Forward Legal.

Additionally, their views on the case were shared by Sergey Semenov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Gdansk (2021-2025), and Darya Mayorova, Expert at the Committee on Property and the Judicial System of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).

For the first time in the history of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, negotiations became a standalone topic of expert discussion. This reflects a shift in market demand: businesses require not only strong competencies in litigation and criminal law work, but also effective mechanisms for de-escalating conflicts.

More detailed information about the session, including a video recording, can be found on the websites of Pravo.ru and Roscongress (a video recording is available).
